Program: Cupric Canyon Capital’s Kalahari Copper Belt Development and Factors that Impact the Long Term Copper Market
Timothy R. Snider has spent over 45 years in the copper industry. Prior to becoming the founding chairman of Cupric, Snider was president and Chief Operating Officer of Freeport-McMoRan and its predecessor Phelps Dodge. During his tenure in Phelps Dodge, he led a major technological transformation of the company's production to include hydrometallurgical processing and helped to establish Phelps Dodge as an industry leader in technology and operational excellence. He also led the technical and operational integration of the Phelps Dodge acquisition of Cyprus-Amax in 1999 and the Freeport-McMoRan/ Phelps Dodge merger in 2007.
Mr. Snider holds a B.S. Geology and Chemistry from Northern Arizona University and is a graduate of the Wharton Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania. He currently holds directorships with two public mining companies: IAMGold Corporation in Toronto; and Teck Resources in Vancouver. He is a former director of Compania de Minas Buenaventura Peru and Compass Minerals International in Kansas City. In addition, he sits on the boards the Arizona chapter of the Nature Conservancy and the Northern Arizona University Foundation. He was the founding chairman of the University of Arizona's Institute for Mineral Resources, and served as director of the Mining Foundation of the Southwest.
