Brad Ross, PhD, PE,  will share his experience as technical services manager while preparing for and recovering from the largest highwall failure in mining history, including:
- Why the Manefay failed 
- Leadership during times of crisis
- How a second large failure was prevented
- Innovation used to recover from the Manefay

Speaker Bio
Brad Ross is a Registered Professional Mining Engineer and PhD with more than 40 years of experience in the mining industry. This experience has included a variety of positions ranging from Technical Services Manager, Operations Engineer, Financial Controller, to Asset Manager and Training Manager. He is currently an adjunct professor at the Mining and Geological Engineering Department at the University of Arizona and is president of 90 Degree Consulting LLC that provides technical, operational and management advice as well as mentoring of high potential employees. Brad has also written a book titled Rising to the Occasion – Lessons from the Bingham Canyon Manefay Slide which is based on his experience as technical services manager while preparing for and recovering from the largest highwall failure in mining history.

$39 non-members who reserve by deadline.

Free for current UA mining students who are UA SME members.

Payable at the door by cash, credit card, or check payable to SME Tucson.

Cost does not include bar drinks. Cash bar is available.

Cancellations and No Shows:
Please call or email by the registration deadline to cancel.  If you do not cancel your reservation by the deadline, SME is still required to pay for your dinner and you will in turn be billed. Thank you.
